“The interest level has been very high,” said project director Somit Talwar. “We attribute this to the excellent reputation of the hotel, the offer of a quality product at excellent prices and the popularity of the condo-hotel concept.”
Several model units have just been opened at the development. “It provides an excellent opportunity for buyers to get a feel for the units, the hotel and the beautiful Rosarito Beach area,” Talwar said,
Construction for the 17-story Rosarito Beach Condo-Hotel is scheduled for spring of 2008. One-bedroom to three-bedroom penthouse units are offered at pre-construction prices from $175,000 to $599,000.
The complex will have feature, including a rooftop infinity pool, exercise and business centers, private parking garage and panoramic ocean views.
Owners can take full advantage of all amenities at the hotel, which has hosted movies stars and presidents since 1925. Those include an elegant European spa, world-class restaurants, entertainment, sandy beach and grand pier.
Owners also have the option of having hotel management rent their units for them when they are not in use, providing an additional revenue stream.
The surrounding area is rich in culture and activities including fishing, a wine country, fine restaurants and nightlife. The world-famous Puerto Nuevo Lobster Village is nearby, as is Fox Studios, where the movie “Titanic” and others were filmed.
The Rosarito Beach Condo-Hotel includes 192 one-bedroom, 65 two-bedroom and 14 penthouse units, all fully furnished. Financing is available in-house and through Finance North America. Stewart Title insurance is offered for a secure investment.
“The project is a major step in the ongoing development of the resort,” Hugo Torres said of his oceanfront hotel, which celebrated its 80th anniversary last year. “The fact that the hotel is so well known and respected has created very strong demand for the units.”
Torres said buyers from the United States, particularly Baby Boomers, have created the need for such a development.
The 276-room Rosarito Beach Hotel, initially the luxurious home of the founding family, opened to the public in 1925 as a hunting lodge with 12 rooms on a beautiful stretch of sandy beach.
It flourished from the 30’s on as Hollywood stars from Marilyn Monroe to John Wayne to Gregory Peck, European royalty and Mexican presidents mingled by its famed pool and Beachcomber Bar.
“Over the years, the Rosarito Beach Hotel has been called glamorous, beautiful and magical,” said hotel vice president Laura Torres. “Now some people can call it home.”
The Rosarito Beach Hotel and Condo Hotel is just 20 miles south of the U.S.-San Diego border, along a scenic oceanfront drive.
The Rosarito Beach Condo-Hotel is in the heart of Baja’s scenic 60-mile Gold Coast, which stretches to Ensenada. Rosarito is the center of development for the area.
Demand for properties has been great, spurred by the area’s natural beauty, housing values, proximity to the United States and tourist tradition. Baby Boomers are looking at the Baja peninsula as an affordable place to retire.
The city of Rosarito estimates 14,000 U.S. citizens among its 140,000 residents, and that number grows each day.
