Explore Tijuana

Tijuana is considered to be the most dominant regional center in northwestern Mexico. Because of it being part of the San Diego-Tijuana Metropolitan Area, it is one of the fastest-growing cities in Mexico and the largest bi-national metro area on the United States/Mexico border, with a combined population for both cities of over 5 million people.

The city is home to a large and fast-growing population of United States citizens, mostly from Southern California, who have moved to Tijuana to avoid the higher cost of living in their home country while still being able to work in San Diego.Tijuana and Baja California have much stronger economies and higher incomes than the Mexican cities that border Texas.

A very affluent and prominent society has developed in Tijuana. Gentrification is evident throughout certain districts. The Club Campestre de Tijuana (Tijuana Country Club) has many affluent members and a famous golf course. A large-sized Rotary Club is also located in Tijuana.

Tijuana is well known for its medical and dental facilities that bring people here from around the world. The quality of the care is second to none and the costs are a fraction of what you pay in the United States. There are new hospitals that have state of the art equipment and the most current treatments, which may not be found anywhere else, are available here.

According to Newsweek, Tijuana also has a very active and independent artist community, whose internationally recognized work has earned Tijuana the title of "One of the most important new cultural Meccas’’ in the world. A modern cultural center is a remarkable place that displays history, art, and culture and brings kids and parents together to learn, have fun and enjoy themselves.

Tijuana possesses a diversity of shopping malls. Plaza Río is located just a few minutes away from the United States border. In it, you will find a large variety of small stores and big department stores like Sears, and a multi-screen Cinépolis movie theater.

At night the discos, local bars, coffee shops, and excellent restaurants make it the perfect place to spend your evening. The beach community of Playas de Tijuana is on the Pacific Ocean and is a rapidly growing area that is populated by people that love the beach and still want to be close to Tijuana. New condo developments are providing oceanfront living and the security of a gated community.
