Preventing an accident is the ideal situation. "Don’t drink and drive" is true anywhere but especially in Mexico.
Driving at night should be avoided whenever possible because this is when most accidents occur. Driving short distances in town is safe, but if you’re not familiar with the long-distance road, only drive at night if necessary. We realize that some U.S. insurance companies claim to provide coverage in Mexico. We highly recommend that you speak to your insurance company before crossing because we have found most of them have restrictions and limitations to the coverage they offer.
IMPORTANT: Just because your insurance company provides you coverage in Mexico does not mean that the Mexican authorities will honor your U.S. coverage. What this means is if you do not have the ability to prove your coverage or have a local Baja insurance representative you will have to pay out of your pocket if it is found you are at fault.
Mexico car insurance is very affordable and easily attainable online. We suggest it is better to be safe than sorry.
