In Mexico expect to encounter different driving habits, highway signs and ‘rules of the road.’ The first few times you drive, especially in big cities, you’ll likely feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of traffic, crazy drivers and the Glorietas (Roundabouts).
Driving in Mexico is safe. You'll just need to exercise care and be prepared for things to be different from what you are used to. Signs will be in Spanish so you should have your dictionary ready if you can’t figure out what the sign says. Here is an important one, “Alto” means stop.
It is illegal to drink and drive in Mexico. If you drink, take a cab, they're not expensive.
