Mission Group’s Goal: 600 Houses

Mission Group’s Goal: 600 Houses

For Needy in Rosarito and Tijuana

ROSARITO BEACH, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO---Mayor Hugo Torres and the Secretary General Javier Hernandez on March 20 at the San Marino location of the Youth with a Mission Association signed a cooperation agreement to build houses for the needy.

The first house will be constructed in two days by teams of 25 people who will build the wooden house from its concrete foundation.

Members of the benefited family also will help in the construction. The city government will handle the technical feasibility and legal issues in addition to the cement foundation.

The President of the Youth with a Mission Association Rodolfo Bojorques explained that this is an international association that since 1991 has been sharing a life philosophy and serving the community.

The group has built more than 2,700 houses in Tijuana, Tecate, Rosarito and Ensenada, called houses of hope, Bojorques added.

He also mentioned that for this Easter about 300 volunteers will come from the United States and Canada to support this project.

Bojorques stressed that group members pay for their travel and expenses as well as construction materials, which are purchased in the region to support Mexico's economy. The goal is to build 600 homes this year in Tijuana-Rosarito, he said.

He advised Mayor Torres that the group’s intention is to have the capacity to house 800 people, given the interest of volunteers and supporters of this organization who want to come to Rosarito to build houses.

Mayor Torres thanked the group for this important work for the poor and signed the cooperation agreement to begin construction as soon as possible.
