La Paz real estate has taken off in recent years and there are good reasons why. Being one of Mexico’s oldest cities, it has the charm and culture that you would want along with one of the highest standards of living in all of Mexico. Because of the amenities of the city it has drawn many Americans and Canadians who have bought real estate in the area. La Paz is easily reached by plane at the airport of Manuel Márquez de León International Airport (LAP) which is only 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles (LAX). Because of this La Paz has became an ideal place for retirement. If you want to drive you can reach La Paz by two highways. There is Highway 1 that links the south of the state from "Cabo San Lucas" all the way north to Tijuana, and Highway 19, that connects La Paz with towns to the south like "Todo Santos" and "El Pescadero". Along with its marinas, a new set of developments are emerging due to its relative closeness to the United States, the mild weather, the services the city offers, and the relative peace found in this small city. Visitors are drawn to the area because of Eco-tourism and once they have spent some time here they fall in love with the area and consider what it would be like to live here. American style resorts are being built that are attracting Americans, Canadians and people from around the work. Scuba diving, snorkeling, and kayaking here are considered second to none. Lots are available if you would like to build your own home and you may also buy finished homes and condos that are ready for you to move into. La Paz is a boater’s paradise. There are many marinas like Paraiso del Mar, Costa Baja Marina, Marina de La Paz, Villas de San Lorenzo, Palmira Marina, and Marina Sur and it has four boatyards, marine supply stores and cruiser club activities. No matter what your experience level you will find the right combination of conditions that will suit your abilities. The surrounding waters are full of adventure for experienced captains. You can charter day or overnight trips to enjoy the nearby island coves. There are some 900 islands and inlets in the Gulf of California the Espiritu Santos Islands group, which borders the south eastern portion of the Bay of La Paz and are considered the crown jewels of the islands of the Gulf.
