WHY CANCUN

Cancun is the major city at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula that jutes out into the Caribbean Ocean and is one of the most visited tourist destinations in all of Mexico. There are over 190 flights daily that arrive and depart from the Cancun International Airport (CUN) which makes it the fifth busiest airport in Latin America. The city is the gateway to the Mayan Riviera and the city of Tulum and there are ferries that will take you to the island of Cozumel.

The city of Cancun was designed and built by a group of investors and the Mexican government in 1970. Before that time the area had a population of less than 200 and it was a remote village that was surrounded by jungle and the only developed part was a coconut plantation. All that has changed. Today there are more that three quarters of a million residents and the city is still growing. There are over a hundred of hotels and close to 400 restaurants where you will meet people from all over the world.

The warm waters of the Caribbean bring scuba divers to this famous spot from everywhere. It is a diver’s dream to get into the water either along the mainland coast or off the island of Cozumel. Even if you have never put on a scuba tank, you can take lessons at many hotels that will teach you the basics and allow you to dive under their supervision. And once you get into the water you will be in a tropical aquarium that will amaze your senses with the colors you will see in this underwater world of fish, sea creatures and plant life that abounds in these waters.

Real estate in Cancun has never been more desirable. Homes and condos are being built all along the coast and you can find anything from a small home to a large parcel of land with a huge hacienda that will accommodate a large family and many guests. The real estate market has remained strong and promises to continue to grow because of the demand not only by Americans but Canadians and Europeans as well.

The expansion of Cancun real estate has spread south and it has enveloped Playa del Carmen and reaches to the old Mayan ruins at the city of Tulum. There is a brisk rental market for those of you that do not want to stay in a hotel. As the city grows there are more rental opportunities for people that want to stay for more than a few days and many real estate investors are buying property with that market in mind.
