The name of the company is CFE (COMISIÓN FEDERAL DE ELECTRICIDAD). This is a more expensive bill and it comes once every two months. You only have about a week from the date you received the bill before it is due. Even if you don’t receive the bill on time, it is your responsibility to pay on time.

2. YOUR MEXICO ELECTRIC BILL AND HOW TO PAY IT
The Mexico Electric Bill looks like THIS. CFE has different rates, depending on the use. If you use it a lot in a time period, you can incur a higher rate.
You can pay it at one of their offices, either with the cashier or at the ATM, or pay at a designated collection facility such as banks, convenience stores and supermarkets. You may chose to have a professional service pay for your utilities, which we highly recommend.

3. HOW TO CHANGE THE NAME ON THE BILL
If you are renting or just bought a home, the electric bill may be in the previous owner’s name; make sure you change it to your name.
To modify the name of the existing bill to your name you need to do it physically at their office and their requirements are as follows:
- Copy of an official picture ID of the new occupant.
- If a third party is doing the process for you they need to provide a simple POA along with a copy of their ID
- And one of the following:
- Rental Agreement
- Proof of ownership (Purchase contract and/or title, water bill, previous CFE bill and the number of the meter)
- A request letter to change the name.
This way if the previous owner incurred the highest rate, you will start with the lowest rate at the beginning. Then it will depend on how much you use it.
